Twiddling one's thumbs....

I have found myself twiddling my thumbs and seen others do it but wanted to know  more so I googled.

 

This is one definition: 

1. rotate one's thumbs around each other with the fingers linked together.  There is much information - how to do it  (one way or both ways),  reason(s) - lots!,  history/modern expression/ ,  videos,  photos of  thumb twiddlers.

Thing is, I had a thumb twiddler, a wooden one, no longer have it, but was interested in pursuing this further.
