A tasty treat for the new year : seckel pears! I only discovered them a few years ago and did not know what I was missing so now likely overindulge to make up for lost time.
The pennies are to indicate the size; they are quite small pear-wise and have a distinct flavor. They could be poached, I suppose, and served simply perhaps dotted with custard dollops. I like them as is with a sprinkling of salt.
