I may have seen this bird sitting on the table with the toys at the church sale yeserday. But, if I did, I did not notice it.
My heart soared when I saw a girl with it poised thusly on her finger, watched as she showed it to two younger children, likely her brother and sister, stared as she transferred it to their fingers and they 'flew' with it as well.
Then she put it down. I picked it up. Perched it on my finger. Oh!
"How did you know to do this?" I asked. It would never have occurred to me to balance it, in spite of realizing there are weights along the wings.
She shrugged. "I just did," she said.
Other people had taken an interest in this encounter, as we do at church sales, and the bird rested its beak on a number of fingers. I saw reflected my own wonder in other eyes.
Bird now rides the wind of my breath.
