Just before Christmas I sent a parcel to a friend; it was not intended to get there for December 25 so I chose the regular mail method and was advised it could take a week or two. No problem: it wasn't frozen or breathing.
On the long Canada Post receipt I noticed the tracking feature. Well - I have been tracking its progress.
It was "accepted" here at the Post Office in Victoria on Dec 24; I know that: I was with it. Five days later it was "processed at the postal facility" in Victoria so it spent Christmas likely in the company of parcels in a 'late' languish. I assume my parcel was in leisure mode.
On Dec 30 it was "processed at the postal facility" in Richmond. Well, that's interesting, thought I, it's gotten off the Island and with a good strong wind it would next be in Ontario. Then I noticed the Google Maps feature and clicked on it and saw that the parcel was in Richmond, Virginia!
It spent New Year's Eve there and several more days in the USA because on Jan 5 2011 at 14:40 it was "processed at the postal facility" in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Mon dieu! Et deux heures, I mean two hours later at 16:37 it was "processed at the postal facility" in Montreal and now is...... somewhere.
It's addressed to Kingston ...... as in Ontario ..... but having gone on a bit of a jaunt already, it may be on its way to Jamaica. I suppose it could have a tan when it finally arrives.
This is fun. I am enjoying the voyage - and no jet lag.
How fascinating to track your parcel. I hope it eventually gets to the correct destination.
