Some background here on what this quest for a chair is all about.
Another piece of stretchy material presented itself and got joined into a tube and stretched over the second plastic chair. I like the look of it, how it is different from the first one but retains the edgey flowing design, how the Flokati adds to the comfort and suits the season ..... so it is now in the living room.
Which meant there was now a space in the bedroom where the second chair had been and, a vacuum having been created, the wish to fill it was strong.
For some reason I thought of those portable folding chairs that fit into a bag. I have two which are used in warmer weather for outdoor events . Both got set up and tried out; the smaller one, without arms, was not comfortable compared to the one with arms and it got bagged again.
The piece of chestnut material was not large enough to turn into a tube and pull over the one with arms but could be wrapped around and tied on. Another Flokati complemented it.
Then I sat in it and thought about why it was satisfactory; why most chairs aren't; why the one without arms was not comfortable and it wasn't just the absence of arms.
The canvas and sling design of this one cup the body and support it in a natural way; the arms are a bit high and elevate my shoulders more than I would prefer and I will have to spend more time with my arms at my sides to see if this is enough of an adjustment; my back was not being held in a position that put a strain on it, like many chairs do; when I shifted position the chair shifted with me.
My conclusion, at the moment, is that the chair lets me truly relax while in an upright position. For the moment .... great!
