Unfinished needlework projects are not uncommon fibre archeology finds unearthed at thrift stores and this was one. The center had been finished and the background, in a cream, barely started. The back is as lovely as the front with all the ends woven in and I suspect the person who started to fill in the background was different from the one who did the flowers but gave up after two or three rows. I am touched by the amount of time and work and decided to 'rescue' it, honour it, by turning it into a hat?oh!
It was cut into a 15 inch diameter circle, zigzagged around the circumference, sewn to a 15 inch circle of linen, turned right side out, edges left free.
Bring on the sun!
