Years ago a snake was said to have escaped downtown and was thought to be in or around a certain store. The critter was never captured and I still think of that snake when I go past the spot and sort of 'keep my eye out'.
The other day another snake moseyed its way outside its house, not downtown, but in a residential neighbourhood. This one is a six foot, five pound, brownish red boa constrictor. Its owner said it had just eaten and would not be hungry for weeks and that it was "friendly". I wonder what he means by "friendly". I have had dog owners tell me their dogs were "friendly" as a small dog was trying to unravel my handknit socks and, another time, as a large dog seemed intent on parting my hair. This snake, being a constictor, I wonder if "friendly" means it likes to hug. I
