There comes a week or two in autumn when the leaves on trees begin to diminish, to curl, to dry. And in this week or two the solid aspect of the trees change and one can look into the tree shape and often right through it. This differs from when the leaves actually begin to fall - then, one expects to access the space visually. No - I am talking of the week or two before this, when all the leaves are yet on the trees, but altering their structure. It is subtle and all the more rewarding for requiring a stop and stare.
