At a garage sale on Saturday got another one of those chrome-legged kitchen stools about three feet tall. Now that makes two. The first one I stripped off the plastic seat cover and painted the rough wood black as well as the foot bar. It has made for a nice mouse stand beside the computer. The second one got taken down to wood and has a knot hole in almost the exact same place as the first - wow - twins. It is presently doing duty as a stand for the silverware chest I keep my paints in with books angled across the footrest below but the sight of the two of them together inspires thoughts of two old wooden ironing boards attached at the wide end to each of these bases and then the narrow ends meeting and overlapping to produce a table. Another idea is to beachcomb down on Dallas Road by Ogden Point and see if there are any planks the ocean has rounded; a large one on top, a smaller one on the bottom, oiled to keep the shine of the sea. Another find was a an old suitcase with one of the locks locked and no key. None of my collection of keys works so it sits and waits. I can use it as is (on its edge as a table beside a chair) but the intrigue of what might be inside will keep my searching for a solution.
