In spite of - or perhaps because of -being somewhat ambidextrous, I notice when things are directed toward a left-handed grasp. I think it is likely detrimental in advertising as we are a right-handed-oriented society; I wonder if any studies have been done around this. I know whenever I see the Handyman Services truck drive by with its illustration of a hammer poised on the left in a position for a leftie to grip my brain does a switch to that hand. And a large cup and saucer in an antique store window display with the handle on the left caught my attention and I did the mental move as well.
