Those recent studies that we are spending far too much time sitting , led to an "aha" moment when I had lunch at a local cafe * and sat for half an hour or so on one of these chairs. It was surprisingly comfortable, supported my back in the right places, and the slats were wood and not hard metal. But what really impressed me was that I could dangle my feet. And that encouraged swinging legs and feet - like a restless child but without the sound. The movement involved hips as well. It was very relaxing, a gentle, pleasant motion. My posture benefitted: I was sitting effortlessly upright.
Sitting now, here at my computer, I become aware of just how 'locked in' my feet and legs and hips are, by comparison. Hmmm.
