Butter flower 'blooms' on bread

IMG_7806 If you make Irish soda bread (heck, any kind of homemade bread!) this butter flower is a nice accompaniment.  (It is also a hit at pot lucks.)

IMG_7797 It's not hard to do:  take a chunk of hard butter and a paring knife and slice off  strips of butter.....

IMG_7799 .......using the 'petals' to build up a flower.  This one is rather like a chrysanthemum.  Longer slices make more a rose shape.  Smooth the edges with your fingers and mould to desirable shape.
